Heather and Doug are new to the Buffalo area, so we were very excited to show them some of the highlights of our beautiful city! We met up with them in Allentown, and walked around there for a bit, taking advantage of all of the colors and textures that make this area one of our favorite spots to shoot. These two are super adorable, and were so fun and easy to work with! :)
Our next stop was the Erie County Historical Society and the Japanese Gardens. This is yet another of Buffalo’s truly gorgeous locations – we love it!
Aren’t they a gorgeous couple?! Seriously. And, Heather, you are going to be a spectacularly beautiful bride. for. real.
Our last stop was this spot on the water front. It doesn’t really have a name, I guess…it’s just one of those areas down by the Outer Harbor where you can pull over on the side of the road and walk in. The sky that night was one of the most amazing skies we’ve ever seen, with visible rays of light beaming down from the heavens. I love these shots, and I love this gorgeous couple. That last shot (with the incredible back lighting by Ben) is one of my favorite shots of all time. So stunning. :)
Heather and Doug – thank you so much for spending some time with us to create these beautiful photos! Hope you love them as much as we do! We had such a great time working with you both, and we wish you all the very best!! Much love, J + B :)
These pictures are amazing! We are very happy with the way they turned out. We loved the areas you two took us too and enjoyed the experience. Thank you for being so creative with the scenery and lighting. Both of you were so helpful and kind to us and it really helped us loosen up and enjoy the day.
We cannot wait to show them off to all our family and friends. Thank you!!
What a perfect day this was! Family, friends, love, joy, laughter, tears – this wedding had it all and then some. Angela and Jon are just one of those couples who are genuinely happy to be together, and we can literally just stand back and capture the unmistakable love between them. They made our job super easy just by being themselves! We love it when that happens. ;)
In keeping with our theme of featuring some favorite wedding day memories, we’ll be sharing some of Angela’s favorites throughout the post, as well as some wedding planning advice. Jon won’t be weighing in with his favorites for this post due to his super busy work schedule, but he is still a HUGE part of what made this day as amazing as it was.
Angela did her final preparations before the ceremony at Kloc’s Grove in the bridal room. I never even knew this room existed, but it was a great little space to have handy!
I loved this moment between Angela and one of her dearest friends from childhood. Maintaining a close friendship with someone for that amount of time is no small feat! These two ladies clearly have much love for each other. :)
Kloc’s has such a great space for outdoor ceremonies. We were loving the whole look and feel of it…so warm and welcoming!
Angela: “As I was about to walk down the aisle, I was standing next to my dad, and I looked up to see him just smiling at me with tears in his eyes. It started me tearing up so I had to try really hard not to cry, but I could see how much he loved me in that one look and it was really special. Walking down the aisle with him and my brother after that was just perfect.”
This was a gorgeous ceremony all the way around, but one thing that made it truly unique, was Angela courageously stepping up to the mic to sing a gorgeous song for her new husband. We already knew that she was all sorts of talented, but it really takes an especially brave person to sing a solo in front of everyone you know and love in life! We were so impressed.
Angela: “I surprised my husband by singing to him after we lit the unity candle. Even though I was in a corset and trying as hard as I could not to cry, I loved getting to surprise him and tell him how much I love him in a different way than usual.”
Right after the ceremony we grabbed some great shots of the newly married couple, and their stunning wedding party! They were such a fun and easy group to work with! Angela and Jon were a dream to photograph. As I have already mentioned, they did their thing, and we just stood back and captured it – what an awesome couple. :)
We were lucky enough to catch A and J practicing their dance moves right before they were announced in to the reception. What a sweet moment!
Angela: “The one chance that Jon and I got to be alone was outside around sunset – we had gone out for some pictures, but we had a few minutes before we had to be anywhere. We took the chance to practice our first dance onelast time and just be together. That moment with my new husband was exactly the pick-me-up I needed for the rest of the night!”
The lovely lady in the background of this photo is Angela’s sister-in-law, Colleen – she was the official wedding coordinator for the day, and she did an absolutely fantastic job! We loved working with her! Thanks for all of your help, Colleen! :)
Angela: “Even though it’s not one specific memory, one of my favorite parts of getting married was getting to bond with my sister-in-law. She coordinated the ceremony and helped out with anything and everything the entire day, and she was an absolute angel. I couldn’t have been happier to have her there and take that chance to really connect.”
We got to borrow Angela and Jon for a few more photos in between dinner and dancing – the light was so perfect at that time.
I adore these two. :)
Having a bunch of professionally trained dancers on the dance floor made for an especially entertaining evening!
Angela: “I had just graduated from college with a dance degree, and a whole bunch of my friends from school were at the wedding. As soon as the DJ started playing “Vogue”, to which we all knew a choreographed dance, we immediately hit the dance floor and did the dance together – in heels. Our professors were standing up to watch and had the biggest grins on their faces – so much fun!”
And, of course, we took a few night shots of this gorgeous duo, which was the perfect end to a perfect day. :)
Angela has these fabulous words of wisdom to share about her experience with the wedding planning process:
“I think the best thing any couple can do is surround themselves with supportive and loving people. It’s a happy time, but there’s A LOT going on, and it’s easy to get wrapped up in the stress of it. The people you ask to stand up with you during the ceremony should be the people you want to spend that entire day with beforehand – the ones who will keep you calm and be thrilled to celebrate the most important day of your life with you! I had the time of my life with my bridesmaids before the wedding, and Jon’s groomsmen were exactly what he needed, too. The next thing I’d tell any bride- and groom-to-be is to focus on your ceremony. Pick things for the reception that you’ll like and your guests will enjoy, but ultimately the ceremony sets the tone for your marriage and it can be incredibly meaningful if you make it special!”
Angela and Jon – thank you so much for choosing us to document these wonderful and unforgettable moments! From start to finish, we had such a fantastic time working with you. It’s so obvious to us (and I’m sure to everyone else) that you two could not be more perfect for each other. We wish you both all the very best! Much love, J + B :)
I cannot even begin to thank you two enough for the AMAZING job you did with our wedding photography. You captured all the best moments of our day and it was an absolute pleasure to have you both there with us! I am SO excited to pick out pictures for our album, and I’ll be sending you our (new!) mailing address soon! Love you both, and THANK YOU!
