Shooting family sessions in the middle of our wedding season is like a breath of fresh air.  Of course we love weddings…I mean, weddings are what we do, but it’s definitely nice to hang out with a super cool family for a few hours, and take some great shots of them just being themselves…it’s a nice change from the rush-and-hurry of all wedding days.  :)

So, this is the entire Fitzpatrick gang!  We were going for a classic, everyone-looking-at-the-camera portrait (which we absolutely did get, I promise), but I really love how much is going on in this one.
This one is pretty great, too.  :)

A great big THANK-YOU to the whole Fitzpatrick clan for spending some time with us and our cameras! You guys were great, and we enjoyed every minute of it! :)

We started with some portraits of the entire clan…
…then, we just hung out for a while and shot some candids.  I love this one of grandmother and grandson…so precious!!!
We did some portraits of the individual Gersh families, too.  With people as photogenic as this, our job was a piece of cake!

The three Gersh siblings…this part of the session had us laughing out loud.  These three must’ve had a great time growing up together!
This little guy had so many great expressions.  Just look at those CHEEKS!!!

To start out, we grabbed a few shots in front of the Carousel Museum in North Tonawanda – definitely one of our favorite spots for photos!


Aiden happens to be at a very “wiggly” age, so it was pretty tough to get a portrait with everyone looking directly at the camera, but I really liked this shot of Ben’s, anyway.  :)
After the Carousel Museum, we headed over to the canal area in NT, where Aiden did some table dancing for us!  Just kidding, just kidding….we bribed him with chocolate to get that handsome smile.

We walked around the park a little, and took some fun “playing around with Mom” shots!

This is just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.  We asked Breanne and Shawn if they’d like to do a more “engagement session-y” shot, and they did, so we set one up, and then Aiden popped into the shot, looking up curiously at what was going on!  Isn’t that just the cutest thing?  I love it.

Jamie and Drew have the most adorable son, Benjamin, (which is a great name, by the way) and naturally, they wanted him to take part in their session; so we met up with the three of them on a sunny April afternoon for a little bit ‘o fun!

I love how much Benjamin looks like his Mama in this first one…seriously, they have the exact same smile  :)

We were so busy shooting and editing for a while there, that we fell drastically behind with our blogging!! Cra-zi-ness. I think we’re pretty well caught up now, though, so this is just the first of a whole stream of new-and-pretty-amazing posts that will be flooding the pages of our blog in the next several days, and I can’t wait. :)

The Adorno’s are a pretty special family, and it was completely our pleasure to have the opportunity to capture some family moments for them! Dr. Adorno is the Ayres’ family veterinarian, and he is the absolute best animal doctor in all of Western New York. He’s the only one I’ve ever found who really “gets it.” He understands that people’s pets are members of their families, and that is pretty close to impossible to find these days. At this point, I’m pretty sure that my love of animals is no secret. I won’t directly reveal how many pets we currently have, but let’s just say that it’s a “higher than average” number; so, needless to say, we have gotten to know Dr. Adorno fairly well. I have a wicked soft spot for the unwanted and neglected animals of the world, and if Ben didn’t keep me in check, that “higher than average” number would quickly multiply to something that would definitely raise an eyebrow or two. It’s probably a good thing that he reminds me to have some common sense once in a while, but I still get really mad (and have tantrums) when he won’t let me bring home a stray something-or-another whenever I want to.

Anyway, during one of our routine visits to the Adoring Pets Veterinary Health Center, Dr. Adorno mentioned that his daughter was having her first communion this Spring, and that he and his wife would like some portraits of her and of the whole fam; so, we set it up, and this post contains a sampling of the results. We were so thrilled to be able to spend some time with them for a portrait session!  They are such a great family!

I loved this one of the three kids…Esteban looks like one cool dude with his little jacket blowing in the breeze!!!  They are all too cute.   :)

Liz wanted to do some shots in their apartment, so we met them there first. (Ironically, their house was only three houses down from where Ben lived as a child. He was reminiscing the entire time we were there.) These were our favorites from the “apartment segment” of the shoot:



Their cat, Cheerio, was amazingly cute; so, of course, I had to give props to his cuteness on the blog…

After the apartment, our next stop was the Delaware Park area. Good ol’ Delaware Park – always gorgeous, no matter the season. As soon as we got there, I saw all these bright orange and red leaves on the ground in front of the art gallery, so I dragged everyone over there. This was the part where I busted up my ankles, but these shots were worth the pain…


Ben grabbed this shot while I was up in the tree…love it!

While we were over by the art gallery, we decided to play around with the pillars a bit (which was TOTALLY worth it, as these are some of my favorites EVER…)




As it was just starting to get dark, we headed across the street to Delaware Park.


This one makes me smile every time I look at it ?


Then we decided to get SUPER-dramatic with it…I am loving the leaf shadows in this one.

We’ll end with this crazy-weird-magical masterpiece. We were trying to do some long-exposures before it was actually dark enough to do them, so instead of the look we were going for, it kind of looks like UFO’s are landing all around them. Oh well, it’s still a sweet photo regardless, and I decided that it was the perfect circumstance to try out this new texture I’ve been dying to use. It’s kind of crazy looking, but I ? it!

Liz and Raul, we had so much fun hanging out with you guys! Thanks for being so easy to work with! Hopefully, you love these as much as we do. :)

So, when they contacted us about having some Christmas themed photos done for their holiday cards, we were all about it. As it turns out, they had been interviewed for an article in The Buffalo News about their first Christmas as newlyweds, and they also wanted us to take the photos that would accompany the article. Obviously, we were honored. Their article ran in today’s paper, in the “Guide to the Holidays” section, and it’s completely adorable. ?

After the “cookie-making” action shots, they changed into their super-festive holiday attire, and we took these shots with their cat, Marty, posing as Santa.

Marty is clearly NOT amused at our exploitation of his cuteness.

Now, I am largely of Italian descent, which in my opinion, gives me some kind of imaginary license to judge other people’s red sauce, and well, food in general. If you were to ask Ben what my favorite food is, he would say “pizza” without even batting an eye. “Favorite food” doesn’t quite cover it, however; it’s more of a mild obsession.

I have lived in many different places, and have sampled the pizza from a countless number of restaurants during my lifetime. I can eat a slice of pizza and comment on everything from the taste of the sauce, to the texture and taste of the crust, to the amount of time it was in the oven; and, invariably, I can find something to criticize…invariably, that is, until we moved to Hamburg and I tried the pizza from The Now. Never, have I come across a pizza crust that is so consistently a perfect blend of chewy, crispy, sweet, and salty. I swear they sprinkle it with fairy dust or something similarly magical. We will be loyal customers for life. I’m sure by now you must be asking yourself what in the blazes all of this pizza babble has to do with photography. Well, I assure you, it has everything to do with it.

Joelene’s family owns The Now Pizzeria, and she and Don both work there, so we see them with some regularity. We told them what we did for a living, they checked out our work, booked a family session with us, and the rest is history! We met up with Don, Joelene, and their adorable little family at Chestnut Ridge Park on a gorgeous, sunny Fall day.

We started with some family shots on the playground.

Then, we headed over to this “perfect for family portraits” tree.

On the day that we were there, they had already started tearing down the toboggan runs. I don’t know what they’re thinking, but hopefully, they are only repairing them or something. They are way too cool to be gone for good.

After a while, we left the toboggan runs and hopped in our cars to go search for the perfect stone structure. But, instead, we found…

…the perfect slide!

Just another reason to love Chestnut Ridge…there are little “mini playgrounds” every 50 feet or so, and they’re all different. We hung out at this one for a while, and captured some fantastic images of Morgan and Caleb.

While I was busy entertaining the children on the slide, Ben took these amazing shots of Don and Joelene without me even knowing…sneaky.
