As most of you know, we took a road trip down to Washington DC to shoot Katie and John’s e-session, and it was a blast! We had such a great time with these two!! Even though it was the first time we had ever hung out with them, it felt like we had known them for years – I love it when that happens. :)
We took the Metro to their neighborhood, and met them outside of the station, where we excitedly talked about all the different locations we wanted to hit up. The first place they took us, was a cute little park right nearby with lots of beautiful cherry blossoms (they were everywhere down there, people!!) – check out those amazing trees in the background of this first shot! I was in love! As you can see, there was really no “being nervous” about the cameras with these two. They were so cute together, so in love, and so easy to work with!Another really cool feature about this park? They took us to the very bench where John popped the question!! How cute is that? I love it!
Beautiful, Katie!! Ben spotted this area on our way out of the park, so we decided to give it a try for a different look. It’s not cherry blossoms, but I love the lines and angles in these, and the adorable couple, of course. ;) Then, we took a little stroll around their ‘hood… One of their ideas was to get some shots with the capital bikeshare rent-a-bikes, that are all over the place down there. It’s such a cool concept. The bikes are free to rent for 30 minutes at a time, and there are pick up/drop off stations all over the city. Genius!! Katie and John use them a lot, so taking some action shots of them using the bikes was perfect! Great idea, guys! :) Fun blue wall… …and a GORGEOUS bride to be! After the biking session, we made a quick pit stop at Katie and John’s place to grab a few shots there. We loved the idea of capturing this moment in time for them! They may not always live in this apartment, but it will always be their first apartment “together,” and therefore, always a special place for them. :) Before we headed down to the main Cherry Blossom Festival area, we took a quick break for dinner (which turned into kind of a loooooong break for dinner, because we were having so much fun) at this amazing Mexican/El Salvadorian restaurant called La Plaza. The margaritas were to die for, and the spinach quesadillas were out of this universe! We had an awesome time! After dinner, we raced down to the waterfront to grab a few shots with the remaining natural light. :) Then, we set up to do some lit portraits…I love these next three shots! The night shots were super fun…DC at night is just amazing! After an absolutely fantastic shoot, we parted ways with Katie and John at the closest Metro station; but, not before we took this one last shot. How amazing are these Metro stations, by the way? So cool!
Katie and John – thanks so much for having us!! We had such an awesome time with you guys, and we can’t wait to hang out again at the wedding! We’ll see you soon! :)
