Corey and Mark got married in Cooperstown last summer, so they decided to celebrate their first anniversary by heading back to the same quaint little town where their wedding took place! Their plan was to don their wedding attire, revisit the site where their ceremony took place, and spend the weekend taking in all of the beauty that Cooperstown has to offer. What a wonderfully romantic way to celebrate a first anniversary! What made it even MORE romantic, however, was that Mark wanted to surprise Corey by having their special celebration photographed. We were so excited when Mark called us up and explained his vision for how it would all go down! What a guy!
We were supposed to meet Mark and Corey in the lobby of the Otesaga Resort Hotel, so we walked in and let the person at the front desk know we were there. He responded by handing us a package with a note attached. It was a framed photo of the two of them saying their vows, and Mark was asking Ben and I to secretly place it at the ceremony site during our shoot, without Corey knowing! I had two instant reactions at once. First, I turned to Ben and said, “Oh my God…have you ever heard of anything so romantic in all your life?!” Then, I said, “I’m a little nervous about this. I mean, it’s a huge responsibility. What if we screw it up?!” Ben put the photo in his back pack, and assured me that he could handle the task. Needless to say, he pulled it off while I distracted Corey, and she was so surprised – it was one of the sweetest moments I’ve ever witnessed.
I grew up about 45 minutes from Cooperstown, and made many a trip there with my family in the summers of my youth. Just being there, and roaming the streets was a wonderfully nostalgic experience! I enjoyed every minute of it! We started out with a few photos at the Otesaga, since we were already there, and then we headed over to my favorite Cooperstown spot, The Farmer’s Muesum. I can’t even express how much I LOVE this cute little place! I am still waiting for the day that I get to photograph a wedding here, but in the meantime, photographing a gorgeous couple like Mark and Corey at The Farmer’s Muesum was a pretty major WIN.
Our final destination of the day, was Templeton Hall, where Mark and Corey had arranged for a privately catered dinner, featuring the same appetizers and entrees that were served on their wedding day! They toasted to their first year of marriage, and danced to their wedding song – it was just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.
Mark and Corey – we’re so glad you found us! We are honored to have captured these moments for you!! We wish you many, many more happy anniversaries to come! Much love, J + B :)
