Kristin and Strat’s wedding was everything that we always hope for in a wedding day! It was centered around family, friends, love, hugs, laughter, tears, and celebration. The best weddings always are. :)
When I arrived at Kristin’s parents’ home in the morning to document all of the “getting ready” happenings, she presented me with the most beautiful fox pendant necklace. It is so perfectly “me,” and has quickly become one of my favorite things to wear! I call it my “good luck fox,” and I wear it every time we meet with a new couple for the first time. It was so kind of her to think of me on a day that is supposed to be all about her; but, that’s just the kind of person she is. The world needs more people like Kristin.
There are so many reasons why I loved this day..way too many to list. The Trail Mix Bar was definitely one of my favorite reception features of all time. I also was obsessed with the fact that they danced their first dance to Jefferson Starship’s “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now.” (Could they be any cooler?! A favorite of mine, clearly.) Then, there was Kristin’s willingness to sit in the grass in her wedding gown for photos; that made me all sorts of happy. All I can really say is that from the beginning of the day until we gave them sweaty good bye hugs at the end, it was all amazing. Thank you, Kristin and Strat, for welcoming us as friends! Being a part of your day was an all-around fantastic experience!
Kristin and Strat were kind enough to share some wedding day memories and advice, so look for those throughout the post!Kristin: “Stratos sent over the most beautiful necklace for me the morning of the wedding. We agreed not to buy each other wedding gifts, but both ended up surprising each other with a little gift anyway! The necklace instantly became one of my most cherished possessions and I hope to pass it down to our children someday.” Kristin: “The limo ride to the church with my bridesmaids was unforgettable! We sipped champagne and danced to Brittney the whole way!” Stratos: “When I was getting ready, Corey and Kevin brought me Kristin’s wedding present – a beautiful custom made beer stein, together with a 6-pack of my favorite beer in the world (brewed in Wyoming, and very tough to get outside of Wyoming). I was so excited.” Stratos: “I was waiting for Kristin at the altar, and Tom walked her in to the bag pipes, which was a huge surprise – I had no idea. She looked beautiful and the bag pipes always are emotional – I was fighting back the tears.” Kristin: “I will never forget that special moment I spent with my dad right before we walked down the aisle. We were saying funny things to each other to calm our nerves to keep from crying! There are so many emotions running through you!” Kristin: “I couldn’t stop smiling as soon as I saw Stratos waiting for me at the end of the aisle. The feeling was indescribable. He looked so handsome and I couldn’t wait to get to him!”
Stratos: “I loved taking photos on the hill together alone at Tifft Nature Preserve. The scenery was breathtaking – something almost out of the hills of Ireland – and the day was perfect. The sun was out in a bright blue sky. We couldn’t have asked for a better day.” Kristin: “Making our grand reception entrance as husband and wife was amazing! I truly couldn’t have been prouder or happier to be announced as his wife.” Kristin: “One of the best parts of our wedding, was that it brought people together from all different parts of our lives. It’s so rare that you get to spend an entire day with all the people you love the most.” Kristin: “I feel to lucky to have been able to dance “The Stroll” with my Grandma and 10 of her siblings. I will always look back and remember how lucky I was to be able to have done that.”
Stratos: “Watching Kristin, Olivia, Kelsey, and Catie Irish dance was awesome. I never get tired of watching Kristin Irish dance, and the four of them were in a full out dervish. Along those same lines, watching my Dad lead the Greek line dance was great. I knew then it was going to be one of those moments you cherish for a long time.”
Strat: “I think the best advice I can give anyone getting married is to make sure you remember it’s your day, and you do what makes you happy. You cant make everyone happy, so don’t get too involved with others feelings, and make sure you are doing what you want to do that day. Also, make sure you take a moment that day and appreciate whats happening – its a BIG day in your lives – and its over before you realize.”
Kristin: “There is so much excitement and adrenaline on your wedding day that it can be hard for your brain to slow and process memories. Take a minute to stop and step back and take it all in. Look around you and enjoy seeing everyone you love having a good time. You will cherish these memories more than anything!”
