A few months ago, we had the incredible opportunity to travel to Vermont to photograph Lauren and Axel’s incredible wedding at The Equinox Resort and Spa.  I could say so much about how gorgeous this wedding was, but honestly, the images speak for themselves – seriously, it couldn’t have been more amazing!  Lauren and Axel and their families welcomed us as friends, and the Vermont mountain air did wonders for our souls.  It was a trip we’ll never forget.  :)

Lauren:  “The morning of the wedding, I got to spend my time with my favorite ladies by my side—my mom, my sister, my soon-to-be sister-in-law, and I was lucky to have my amazingly talented friend, Dana, do my hair. That meant no random trip to an unknown Vermont salon, but lots of great tunes.”
Axel:  “Having my Best Man, Chris alarmingly state ‘You’re wearing a blue shirt?’ after I had accidentally dressed with the shirt from our rehearsal dinner.”
Lauren:  “The table number pictures, even though Axel and I picked them out, still make me laugh.”
Lauren:  “I still can’t believe I got to get married outside, in front of a pond, at the base of the mountain, and it didn’t rain.”
Axel:  “When Lauren appeared around the berm on her father’s arm, she could not have looked more beautiful.”
Lauren:  “I don’t think I have ever felt as loved as I did after Axel and I exchanged the vows we had written together.”
Lauren:  “Walking into the reception was thrilling! I didn’t participate in the decorating, so that was the first time I got to see the final product of all the planning and hard work. Plus, everyone was already inside.  It was so incredibly beautiful.”

Axel:  “I remember being overwhelmed with happiness as we took our first dance as husband and wife.”

Axel:  “Because of the small size of our wedding, I had time to catch up with all of our closest friends and family—and it just so happened we were in one of the most beautiful locations I have ever experienced.”

And, to wrap things up, here is some great advice from the fabulous, Lauren and Axel:

“To all those planning their weddings, our advice is to personalize not just the reception, but also the ceremony.  Even if you’re following a religious or traditional wedding program, don’t be afraid to add a song, change up the roles, or remove a part that might not be meaningful for you.  In our case, Lauren’s dad did the majority of the ceremony (he’s a dentist), our mom’s lit the unity candle, and we wrote our own vows together, each exchanging one vow at a time back and forth.  It made the day that much more us.”

I don’t think I can express in words just how wonderful it was to work with Jenn and Ben for the third (yes, THIRD) time. We were able to build a relationship through our e-session and family shoot, so that by the time we got to the wedding, it was like having another set of friends celebrating with us. They know how to get the classic wedding shots, but experimented enough and took enough risks to get those modern and artistic images I’ve come to love from them. Thank you both for giving us such beautiful images!!!!
