We kicked off our official 2011 wedding season on April 30th with the fabulous Missy and Steve, and we could not have asked for a better day! It was, literally, the one nice day we had out of weeks of crappy-ness, so needless to say, we were thrilled to see the sun. I definitely included waaaaaay more images in this post than I normally do – maybe it’s because it was the season opener and I was a little overzealous, or maybe it’s because the details at this particular wedding were incredible…I don’t know…but either way, there’s a whole lot of amazing-ness for you to feast your eyes on here. :)

I started out the day at Missy’s parents’ home in Orchard Park.  I walked in expecting her to be at least a little bit nervous, but she was cool as a cucumber.  She was just sitting there getting her makeup done, and she said, “I thought I would be nervous, but I’m not at all!!”  And that was really the tone of the whole day – a laid back, relaxed, fun-for-all celebration of love.  It was so awesome to be a part of.

Missy went with a peacock feather theme, which was so elegant!!  Check out the gorgeous shoe clips!  There were also peacock feathers in the bouquets and in the bridesmaids’ hair.  LOVE.  :)

Ben started out the day with the guys at Missy and Steve’s house in South Buffalo.  They were ready in no time flat…that seems to be how it always goes with the guys.  I love that they have a totally classic South Buffalo backyard.  The first house Ben and I lived in together was in South Buffalo, and we LOVED it there…so many good memories.

Then, we all headed over to St. John Vianney Church in Orchard Park for a beautiful ceremony!!

Such a beautiful exit from the church!!  I was so in love with the ribbons-on-a-stick…

Our next stop was the Ellicott Square Building…such an awesome location for photos.  ;)

After the Ellicott Square Building, we made a quick detour over to the Naval Park area downtown for some outdoor shots.  Do you love Missy’s luxurious peacock fan as much as I do?  Sooooo stunning!!

Then, on to the reception!!

The downstairs bar area of Asbury Hall is way past cool.  We had to take a few shots in front of this deliciously crumbly concrete wall.  Missy, you are so fabulous.

Get ready for detail-palooza!!  The fabulous peacock cake is by the uber-talented Zilly of Zillycakes!

This incredible shot of the outside of the church was taken by Ben.  He continually blows me away with these.  (Nikon 24mm PC-E, f32, ISO 800, 15s, straight out of camera)

The dance floor was jam packed all night long, thanks to the talented Saxman Slim and large crowd of insanely FUN guests.  :)

Toward the very end of the night, we pulled Missy and Steve outside for a few of our awesome night shots.  I had had my eye on the parking garage across the street since we got there, so that was the first place I knew I wanted to go.  I didn’t know the numbers were there until we walked in, though, so of course, we had to get a shot with the number 30 for April 30th.  (Love that I forgot to edit out that nasty cig butt in the bottom right of the frame…oh well!!  hahahaha!!  I’m sure no one would have noticed that except me, but I felt the need to point it out anyways…I think it adds character.)

This last one was a quick grab on the way back into the reception.  They were moving pretty quick, and I was still set up for longer exposures, so this is what I got.  There’s something about it that I really love though…maybe it’s the motion…or maybe it just reminds me of how happy that particular moment was – a chilly Spring night in downtown Buffalo, a newly married couple walking briskly hand-in-hand, people honking and yelling “congrats” – definitely a joyful moment for me.  Moments like these, and couples like Missy and Steve, remind me why I love being a wedding photographer, and why I can’t imagine ever doing anything else.  :)

I have so many comments on this I don’t know where to start! Ok first I loooove the details! Fantastic! Second, I am totally in love with the shot of them on the stairs in the Ellicot Square building…it’s spectacular. Love the argyle socks! Tell Ben that I love his crazy mad skills with the church shot and I adore the overhead shot of the reception with those lights cris-crossing. The bouquet toss shot is hilarious! And finally, I love that in the parking garage shot, just a bit of her garter is showing…it’s killer! Ok…I think I’m done:)
