frequently asked questions

What’s your photography style like?

We love a good candid moment!! Officially, you’d probably call our style photojournalism / fine art / lifestyle photography. We like to keep things as real as possible. We like to help you feel relaxed and natural in front of our camera! In general, we’re pretty unobtrusive when it comes to shooting. Our priority is to capture the authentic emotions of whoever is in front of our lens!

What if the lighting isn’t great?

We can work with any imaginable lighting situation to produce the best possible results!  We’ve spent years accumulating the perfect lighting gear for “on-location” shooting, and we bring it with us to every wedding, event, and portrait session just in case we need it.

How many photographers do you work with?

We have a team of three experienced photographers who all work separately or together! Some packages include two photographers while others only include one. In general, we recommend at least two, but let’s chat about what’s best for you!!

Meet our team!!!

Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one wedding in a day? Weekend?

We sometimes book more than one wedding on a weekend, but NEVER more than one a day. Weddings are hard work, and we can only devote ourselves to one a day to make sure that every couple gets the full Ayres Photography experience.

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day of?

We both shoot with professional DSLRs, and have every lens necessary to provide photographic coverage from a wide variety of perspectives – in fact, I’d say that we’re “over-prepared” in the lens department. We also bring all of our “on-location” lighting gear, just in case the need should arise.

Do you bring backup equipment to the event in case of malfunction?

ALWAYS. We both have duplicate cameras, duplicate flashes, and no shortage of lenses to choose from. We’ve got it covered no matter what happens!

Do you charge hourly or full day?

We have many different inclusive packages that offer much more than just photographic coverage. Some packages include albums, some include more hours of coverage, additional shooters, travel, etc. But we also have a basic hourly rate for any couples who are looking for less than 6 hours of coverage.

See more info on our wedding packages here.

Do you have liability insurance?

Heck yes! We’re fully covered, and we’d be happy to provide proof of coverage. Just ask!

Do you travel?

While we’ve loved our time traveling the world with our cameras, it makes the most sense for our family to focus on our Florida clients!! We’re currently booking clients within a 25-50 mile radius of Ormond Beach.

Since we were based in Buffalo, New York for more than a decade, we will travel back there upon request. :)

How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?

Turnaround times can range from 6 – 12 weeks (depending on where we are in our wedding season) for all images to be processed. (Thanks a million for your patience!!)

In what format are the initial proofs offered?  How long can we keep them?

We deliver all your high-resolution images via an online link, which makes it SUPER easy to download + share your wedding gallery!! The pics here are yours to keep forever and ever. No need to worry about choosing your favorites – you get to keep them all.

What is a “print release”?

You will get an official release form (complete with fancy legal jargon) that grants you the right to reproduce the images (created by Ayres Photography) anytime, anywhere, anyplace you choose. Some photo processing labs will not make prints that come from a professional photographer without a release form, that’s why we provide this for you!! No matter what, we wanna make sure you’re able to enjoy your pics however you want.

How do you suggest we print our photos?

We always recommend ordering prints through our proofing website!! All prints ordered through your online gallery are printed by a professional color lab that we hand-selected for their high-quality prints, lightning-fast turnaround time, and unmatched customer service. (When we order prints for ourselves, we don’t order from any other lab – EVER.)

Their print prices are comparable to any other professional color lab, and they actually look at every single image we send them to double-check the colors before printing. AKA… every print is perfect, every time!!!

Another benefit to having the option of ordering through your gallery: it’s easy to share with family! Ie; Just give mom your password and she can log in to order prints for herself.

What kind of wedding albums do you offer?

We work with several different album companies in order to provide our clients with a wide variety of choices. No matter your budget, we can design a gorgeous album for you that will be cherished for generations to come!

How long does it take to deliver a wedding album?

The design process takes us anywhere from 2-4 weeks. Once the couple approves the design, the order will be placed and the book will arrive in 6-8 weeks.  So, the whole album process typically takes about 10 weeks – btw, it’s totally worth the wait!!
