It was so much fun to capture the connection between Tracey and Rob, and their beautiful daughter, Sophia! It’s always so special when our wedding couples invite us back to document their growing families. It’s a beautiful thing to capture the way love grows and changes when children become a part of your story. <3
In home family sessions are my absolute favorite. I know I’ve written about this many times, but I feel very strongly about the home being a sacred place for family. It’s where you spend the majority of your lives together. It’s where you make big life decisions, laugh the loudest, feel the safest. Your home has a unique energy created by you, so it makes sense to me to make it the backdrop for family photos. As an added bonus, kids feel most comfortable in their own space, so they tend to be much more open to the stranger with the giant camera!
Elsie is 2.5 and we have had family photos taken 5 times already, lol. Every session (except for one) was done in our home. My favorite photos of my own childhood to look back on were the ones my parents took of us at home. We moved a few times when I was growing up, but each house we lived in was special to me and I’m so happy to have those memories preserved. My second favorite photos to look back on were the ones from our family vacations, because those were super good times. ;)
